Ajinkya Rahane Appeals for Support to Rain-Hit Farmers in Maharashtra, Shares Emotional Video
Mumbai, September 26, 2025: Former Team India captain Ajinkya Rahane, moved by the plight of farmers across Maharashtra affected by heavy rains, has urged people to come forward and support them. Sharing a heartfelt video on Instagram, Rahane reminded everyone of his own farming roots, saying, “My father is a farmer, and I know the struggles farmers go through in such times.”
Over the past few weeks, relentless rains, especially in Marathwada, have caused widespread damage to crops, prompting the state government to announce relief measures. Officials have also indicated that a “wet drought” may be declared in some areas to enable structured aid.
In his video message, Rahane said:
“Farmers toil for years to bring food to our plates, and today they are in deep distress due to heavy rainfall. While the government is doing its part, I believe it’s our responsibility too. Each of us should stand by the farmers and extend help in whatever way we can. I am personally contributing, but I urge everyone to do their bit because farmers need us now more than ever.”
He further emphasized that farmers are the backbone of society and called for collective efforts to ease their hardships during this crisis.
