Pune: PM Modi Launches 92,633 BSNL 4G Towers Nationwide, 9,030 In Maharashtra
Pune, 27 September 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the indigenous network of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Jharsuguda, Odisha today. The event was attended online from Pune by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State for Urban Development and Transport Madhuri Misal, MP Medha Kulkarni, BSNL Chief General Manager Harinder Kumar, Special Director General of the Department of Telecommunications R. K. Goyal and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a total of 92 thousand 633 towers of BSNL have been inaugurated across the country, out of which 9030 ‘4G’ towers have been set up in Maharashtra. ‘4G’ network will be available to 24 thousand 680 thousand villages of the country through these towers. Through this service, 4G technology will reach lakhs of citizens of the country as well as the state, which will help in increasing connectivity in rural areas, he said.
Chief Minister Fadnavis further said, “Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said that the path to development is communication. He launched the Golden Quadrilateral Scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to connect the country and villages through roads in terms of communication. Now in the 21st century, it has been realized that not only roads but also connectivity is important for development. Without reaching the villages with mobile connectivity and internet, the development of this century cannot be reached. Therefore, 4G towers were built under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring this technology to the villages,” he said.

Union Minister of State Raksha Khadse said that efforts are being made by the Central Government to make India self-reliant under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a part of this, the work of setting up an indigenous 4G network was undertaken through BSNL.
BSNL has created a new identity for India in the world by developing indigenous 4G technology in just 22 months. However, instead of being satisfied with just 4G network, we will also upgrade this network to 5G and 6G in the future. Through this network, rural and tribal areas will develop rapidly. Also, this is a very important step for national security as our own technology has been developed, she said.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in his speech, praised the performance of BSNL and congratulated Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Shinde and his colleagues. He further said, today’s moment is very important for a self-reliant and strong India. India has made its mark in the field of information technology. This is the biggest mission after the industrial revolution.

We are moving towards Digital India by developing indigenous ‘4G’ technology. BSNL’s success story of indigenous ‘4G’ will be remarkable in the world. India has cemented its position as a superpower in the field of information technology. Maharashtra will provide all necessary cooperation to fulfill Prime Minister Modi’s dream of a developed India by 2047, Mr. Shinde also said.
