Mysuru, September 29, 2025: The much-awaited Mysore Dasara, Karnataka’s official state festival known as Nadahabba, has commenced with grandeur and devotion. The 416th edition of this centuries-old celebration was inaugurated on September 22 at Chamundi Hills by acclaimed International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq, marking the beginning of 11 days of spectacular events that will continue until October 2.

The city of Mysuru has been transformed into a dazzling hub of lights, traditions, and entertainment, drawing visitors from across India and abroad. From the majestic illumination of Mysore Palace to modern attractions such as drone displays, air shows, and youth-centric cultural programs, the festival seamlessly blends heritage with innovation.

Highlights of Mysore Dasara 2025:

  • Yuva Dasara: Performances by young artists showcasing music, dance, and contemporary culture.
  • Air Show: A special demonstration by the Indian Air Force, scheduled on October 2 at Chamundi Vihar Grounds near Banni Mantap. 
  • Drone Show: Cutting-edge displays on October 1 and 2 at Torchlight Parade Grounds, with trial runs on September 28 and 29.
  • Illuminated Palace: The Mysore Palace, lit up each evening, remains a signature attraction, alongside traditional rituals conducted by the royal family.

Beyond these spectacles, the festival calendar includes a flower show at Kuppanna Park, yoga and sports competitions, art camps, heritage walks, farmer-focused events, rangoli and handicraft contests, and the much-loved Jumbo Savari procession on Vijayadashami.

Rooted in a tradition dating back to the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century, Mysore Dasara symbolizes the state’s cultural identity and historical pride. The festivities not only celebrate mythology and heritage but also promote tourism, economy, and community participation.
