Pimpri, September 29, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar chaired a crucial meeting to review the River Rejuvenation Project being jointly implemented by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

During the discussions, Pawar emphasized the need for effective measures to tackle monsoon-related challenges, ensure river cleanliness, remove obstructions in water flow, and strengthen flood management. He directed all departments to maintain close coordination until the project’s completion.

The joint meeting was held at the Late Madhukar Pawale Hall in the PCMC headquarters and included officials from PMC, PCMC, PMRDA, the Water Resources Department, and the Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS). Presentations on the ongoing Mula River rejuvenation plans were made, with Pawar instructing authorities to prioritize expert inputs from the Water Resources Department.

He stressed that project planning must consider changing climate patterns, flood levels, river width, and rainfall data from both the ghats and urban areas. The Deputy CM highlighted that the initiative should balance biodiversity, ecological stability, and growing urbanization.

Pawar further directed that robust and immediate steps be taken to prevent hardships to citizens during the monsoon and to avoid any disaster-like situations.
