Pune Kids Unite for Safer Roads: 9-Year-Old Pranav Harsha Leads Pothole-Free City Initiative
Pune, October 7, 2025: In a heartwarming yet powerful initiative, the youngest citizens of Pune have come together to raise their voices for safer roads. Led by nine-year-old R.K. Pranav Harsha, children from Platinum Park Society on Maan road launched a campaign on September 28, demanding a city free from potholes and road accidents.
The campaign was born out of Pranav’s personal experience with the dangers posed by pothole-ridden roads. Having seen his family, friends, and neighbors suffer injuries and inconvenience due to poor road conditions, Pranav decided to take action. “Kids also have a right to ask for safe roads,” he said, echoing a message that quickly united other children in the neighborhood.
With encouragement from parents and society members, Pranav, along with his friend Harshit, organized children aged one to fourteen years to join the movement.
Their message is directed toward “elders in boardrooms” — decision-makers who hold the authority to improve Pune’s infrastructure.
The children’s heartfelt plea for a “Pothole-Free Safe Pune” serves as a strong reminder of the importance of civic responsibility and the urgent need to prioritize public safety. Their campaign not only highlights a critical urban issue but also inspires hope that change can begin with even the smallest voices.
