Congress To Host Pune Traffic Conference On June 6 To Address City’s Growing Congestion Crisis
Pune, une 4, 2026: With traffic congestion continuing to be one of Pune’s most pressing urban challenges, the Pune City District Congress Committee has announced a special “Pune Traffic Conference” aimed at identifying practical solutions to the city’s growing mobility issues.
The conference will be held on Saturday, June 6, from 10 am to 1 pm at Patrakar Bhavan in Navi Peth. The event is expected to bring together senior government officials, transport experts, journalists, civic activists and citizens for a comprehensive discussion on traffic management and urban transportation.
According to Deepti Chaudhari, President of the West Division of Pune City Congress, the objective of the conference is to create a platform where stakeholders can exchange ideas and recommend measures to ease traffic congestion across the city.
Following the discussions, a consolidated report containing recommendations and key findings from the conference will be prepared and submitted to the Maharashtra Chief Minister and the Pune Municipal Commissioner. Congress leaders said they would also pursue the implementation of the recommendations with the concerned authorities.
Chaudhari further stated that a publication documenting the discussions, expert opinions and recommendations emerging from the conference will also be released.
Several senior officials and experts from agencies involved in Pune’s transportation and infrastructure planning have been invited to participate. These include Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad, PMC Road Department Head Rohitdas Ghawane, Chief Engineer (Projects) Dinkar Gojare, Pune Metro Project Director Atul Gadgil, Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) Technical Department Head S.N. Dhole, officials from PMRDA and PMPML, and civic activist Vivek Velankar of Sajag Nagrik Manch.
The invited experts are expected to share insights and suggest measures to improve traffic flow, strengthen public transport systems and address long-standing transportation challenges affecting daily commuters.
As Pune continues to witness rapid urban growth and rising vehicle numbers, the conference is expected to focus on both short-term interventions and long-term strategies aimed at creating a more efficient and sustainable transport network for the city.
