Mumbai, October 8, 2025: The Maharashtra government is considering a proposal to create a unified network for operating and monitoring all ambulance services across the state, announced Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar.

Currently, ambulance services are provided by multiple agencies, including the Public Health Department, MSRDC, and NHAI. Speaking at a review meeting on emergency medical services held at Mantralaya, Minister Abitkar emphasized the need for an integrated system to improve coordination and response times. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Health Meghna Sakore-BordikarHealth Secretary Dr. Nipun VinayakHealth Services Commissioner Dr. Kadambari BalkawadeTransport Commissioner, and representatives of ambulance service providers.

Minister Abitkar stated that the state will soon induct new advanced 108 ambulances into service. Instructions were given to ensure these ambulances are deployed promptly and strategically positioned to meet emergency needs.

In addition to the 108 services, ambulances under 102, 104, and 112 are also operational across Maharashtra. Several ambulances are stationed along highways and toll plazas by MSRDC and NHAI. The minister noted that connecting all these services through a single network will enable faster emergency response during the critical “golden hour.”

He further directed that all ambulances must clearly display “Government of Maharashtra” branding, and not carry any company logos or names. Branding must be approved by government authorities, ensuring uniform identity across all state-operated medical emergency vehicles.
