Pune: Edenn Towers Women From Wakad Lead By Example

Pune, October 10, 2025: The women of Edenn Towers Society, Wakad, Pune, are setting an inspiring example of compassion and social responsibility. 

In collaboration with Goonj, a Magsaysay Award-winning organisation known for its initiatives promoting human dignity and sustainable use of surplus materials, the women have been contributing towards menstrual hygiene for rural women.

For the past five years, each member has sponsored two meters of cloth to help make sanitary kits under Goonj’s acclaimed project “Not Just a Piece of Cloth.” In 2024, their collective effort resulted in a donation of 124 meters of cloth.

This year, they are extending their support to Goonj’s Raahat — the organisation’s flood relief initiative — while encouraging other urban societies to join such efforts annually. Even children have played a role by selling handmade artefacts and donating the proceeds.
