Pune, October 13, 2025: Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Fit Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, Pune is set to host the first-ever ‘MP Sports Festival’ from November 2 to 16, 2025, under the guidance of Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol.

The 15-day festival will feature 35 sporting competitions across various venues in the city, organized with the support of different sports associations.

Chief coordinator and Chhatrapati Award winner Manoj Erande shared that the event aims to bring together professional athletes, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and common citizens to showcase their sporting talents. “The festival will feature both traditional Indian sports and several international-level competitions,” he said.

The games include archery, athletics, badminton, swimming, basketball, bodybuilding, boxing, carrom, chess, cycling, cricket, football, gymnastics, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho-kho, mallakhamb, pickleball, roll ball, shooting, skating, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wall climbing, water polo, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, yoga, and squash.

Special events such as swimming and wheelchair basketball for differently-abled participants and carrom tournaments for senior citizens will also be held.

Competitions will take place at Sanas Ground, Tilak Tank Ground, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Balewadi Sports Complex, S.P. College, Maharashtra Mandal, Deccan Gymkhana, and Kharadi, among others. Around 20,000 to 25,000 participants are expected to take part. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol said, “Since the announcement of the MP Sports Festival on National Sports Day, we’ve received an enthusiastic response. After the Diwali celebrations, Pune is ready for this grand sports festival. The event aims to discover talented youth who may one day bring Olympic gold medals home to India.”
