Pune Zilla Parishad Election 2025: Reservation List Announced For SC, ST, OBC And Women Categories
Pune, October 14, 2025 – The long-pending decision on the Pune Zilla Parishad election reservations has finally been announced. The draw for the reservation of seats took place on Monday, marking an important step toward conducting local body elections that have been on hold for nearly four years.
Out of a total of 73 groups in the Pune Zilla Parishad, 22 have been reserved for the open category, 7 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 5 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 19 for Other Backward Classes (OBC). In addition, 20 seats in the open category and a total of 37 across all categories have been reserved for women.
As per the Zilla Parishad Act, Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar made a revision in the SC reservation list. The Bhigwan group in Indapur taluka, initially included in the SC category, has been replaced by the Loni Kalbhor group from Haveli taluka after the population count was corrected. District Collector Jitendra Dudi approved the amendment.

Dudi stated that the reservation has been finalized based on the population proportions of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in each region. Groups with higher population density within these categories were selected for reservation.
The draw was conducted at the Zilla Parishad School in Gauddara, Haveli taluka, where students from classes II to IV participated in the lottery process. The event was held in the presence of Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Deputy District Collector Dr. Charushila Mohite-Deshmukh, and other election officials.
The term of the previous Zilla Parishad ended on March 20, 2022, and since then, administrative control has continued. With the announcement of the reservation list, preparations for elections are expected to gain momentum.
