Pune: Women At Dada Vaswani Skill Development Institute Brighten Homes And Lives This Diwali Through Skill Empowerment
Pune, October 14, 2025 — With the city decking up for Diwali, the women of Dada Vaswani Skill Development Institute (DVSDI) are lighting up lives in more ways than one. Equipped with creativity, confidence, and newly learned skills, they are crafting beautiful handmade items — from colourful diyas and festive torans to intricate Diwali decor — each piece reflecting both artistry and empowerment.
But behind every glittering diya lies a deeper story. Established in December 2021, the Dada Vaswani Skill Development Institute has been quietly empowering women from underprivileged backgrounds through free, government-recognised skill development courses. Located in Manjri and Pimpri, Pune, the Institute provides a safe and supportive space where women can learn employable skills, gain financial independence, and dignity.
Guided by the vision of Revered Dada J.P. Vaswani — who often said, “The woman’s soul that will lead us upward on.” — the Institute offers a range of free, certified courses under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India — from Tally, Beautician Training, and Computer Fundamentals to creative and practical fields like Baking, Tailoring, Mehndi, and Diya Painting. Blending theory with hands-on learning, these programs equip women for both immediate income generation and long-term growth.
Since its inception, DVSDI has transformed the lives of over 500 women, many of whom now earn a steady income through their skills. The Dada Shyam Foundation further supports this journey by providing raw materials and purchasing finished products, ensuring that women can earn sustainably without financial strain.
This festive season, their handmade creations — crafted with love and purpose — are more than just decorations; they are symbols of empowerment. Each diya that glows and each toran that adorns a doorway carries the story of a woman who chose to rebuild her life with strength and skill.
