Pune, October 13, 2025: Pune is set to reclaim its reputation as a cycling-friendly city, with Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram announcing plans to develop a 75 km network of dedicated cycling tracks across the city. Speaking at the “Hindayan Shanivarwada to Sinhagad Bike & Hike” event, Mr. Ram emphasized the importance of creating safe and accessible routes for cyclists of all ages, from children to senior citizens.

The event saw active participation from the Territorial Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Air Force, Pune Municipal Cycling Club, and local residents, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for cycling in Pune. “Cycling is an eco-friendly and healthy mode of transport. Developing proper infrastructure for cyclists is essential to encourage more people to adopt it,” said Mr. Ram. The tracks are part of the ‘Pune Grand Challenge Tour’ scheduled for January 2026.

Participants praised the organization and support provided during the ride. Umakant Diggikar, Assistant Engineer in the Building License Department, shared, “Cycling alongside the Territorial Army, Air Force, and BSF personnel was a great experience. The meal atop Sinhagad provided by the Indian Army and the medical support from the PMC made it very enjoyable.”
