Pune, October 16, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Blue Energy Motors’ heavy-duty electric truck with swappable battery technology, describing it as a “Revolution on Wheels.” He assured full government support for the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing sector in the state, including the development of new electric corridors similar to the Mumbai–Pune EV Corridor.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held at Nighoje, Fadnavis praised the cutting-edge engineering and performance of the truck, calling it a symbol of India’s “Make in India” mission. The event was attended by MLAs Amit Gorakhe, Mahesh Landge, Babaji Kale, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Blue Energy Motors Founder and MD Anirudh Bhuwalkar, spiritual leader Dhirendra Shastri (Bageshwar Baba), and business leaders Prashant Ruiya, Anshuman Ruiya, Amit Bajaj, and Kaustubh Dhavse.

Fadnavis said that Blue Energy Motors has brought a major transformation to the electric vehicle sector by introducing an efficient, Indian-made cargo truck designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions from freight transportation.

He highlighted that the entire concept, design, and engineering of the EV truck were developed in India, particularly in Maharashtra and Pune, making it a proud milestone for the state. The project stems from an MoU signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which has now materialized into production.

Fadnavis reaffirmed the government’s EV and alternative fuel policies, emphasizing the state’s goal of combining industrial progress with environmental protection. He also announced that Maharashtra will work with Blue Energy Motors to establish battery-swapping and charging corridors across various routes.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the truck’s pricing will compete with diesel vehicles, ensuring a strong market response. He added that the swappable battery technology represents a major breakthrough in India’s EV journey, with future models expected to double their range from 200 km to 400 km as battery efficiency improves.

Calling the truck “software on wheels,” Fadnavis said the embedded smart sensors will enhance load detection, ensure compliance with transport norms, and help prevent road accidents.

He further stated that Maharashtra is accelerating its solar energy generation efforts, aiming to derive 70% of its power from renewable sources by 2035.

The Davos MoU, signed earlier this year, has now yielded tangible results, with Blue Energy Motors beginning production of 10,000 EV trucks in the first phase. Fadnavis highlighted that the project not only supports investment and innovation but also creates employment opportunities in Maharashtra.

In his address, Anirudh Bhuwalkar, founder and MD of Blue Energy Motors, shared the company’s journey—from building India’s first LNG truck in 2022 to now launching the country’s first swappable-battery heavy-duty EV truck aimed at zero carbon emissions.

During the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis personally drove the electric truck, experiencing the technology firsthand and inaugurating the company’s Mumbai–Pune Electric Corridor, marking a new era in India’s sustainable transportation sector.
