Mumbai, October 20, 2025: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory, predicting rainfall and thunderstorms across Maharashtra, including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), during the upcoming Diwali festival.

After the heavy rains in September, the state may witness sudden weather changes as low-pressure systems develop over the Arabian Sea. Currently, Mumbai is experiencing bright sunshine, with residents feeling the “October heat,” but IMD forecasts a temperature drop starting Sunday. From Monday to Wednesday evenings, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Mumbai and surrounding suburbs.

Weather Systems to Watch:
IMD reports that a low-pressure system forming in the Arabian Sea could influence coastal weather patterns. Meanwhile, a cyclone over the southern Andaman Sea may develop into a new low-pressure system in the southeastern Bay of Bengal by Tuesday. These systems are expected to bring heavy rainfall to Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
