Residents with queries can visit the PMC office

Pune: With many residenfs receiving extra property tax due to flawed data collection process by the assigned companies, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to review tax receipts again.

“Those who have got extra property tax can visit PMC office as we are reviewing it and if any errors are found in the previous receipt then we will rectify it,” said Ajit Deshmukh, head, property tax department.

To conduct the survey, PMC had awarded a contract to the two companies – Sara IT Resources and Cyber-Tech System and Software. Both the companies were assigned the work of collecting details of property tax owners.

However, the companies only completed 16% of the verification process and both the companies allegedly tagged various properties as rented properties where as in reality, owners were occupying the flats.

“With many flaws found in the data collection process, companies have been slapped with the fine of Rs 2.84 crore,” said Deshmukh.
