Pavneet Kaur Assumes Charge as PMC Additional Commissioner, Replacing Pradeep Chandran After Brief Tenure
Swift changes in the administrative setup of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have brought IAS officer Pavneet Kaur to the forefront as the new Additional Commissioner, succeeding M. J. Pradeep Chandran. The transfer orders were formally issued by Subhash Umranikar, Joint Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD), marking yet another reshuffle within the civic administration.
Pavneet Kaur, a 2014-batch IAS officer, is known for her steady leadership and wide-ranging administrative experience. Her professional journey includes key positions such as Chief Executive Officer of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad, Commissioner of the Tribal Research and Training Institute, District Collector of Amravati, and Director of the Geological Survey and Development Institute. Before her latest appointment, she served as the Deputy Director at Yashada, Pune, where she contributed significantly to governance and training initiatives.
Former Additional Commissioner Pradeep Chandran, who took charge in March 2025, has now been transferred to the Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (SMART) as Project Officer. His new post has been accorded upgraded status, reflecting the importance attached to the role under the current administrative reorganization. The premature transfer of Chandran has prompted discussions among civic officials, as such sudden movements often disrupt the progress of ongoing development projects and delay decision-making processes within the corporation.
