Mumbai, November 1, 2025: In a rare show of unity, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have joined hands to stage a massive protest march in Mumbai today, named the ‘Satyacha Morcha’ (March for Truth), against the State Election Commission.

The march has been organised to protest alleged irregularities in the voter registration process, including duplicate entries, fake names, and voter list manipulation. The agitation has brought together Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, who will share the same stage after a long time.

The morcha will begin at 1 PM from Fashion Street and proceed via Metro Cinema to reach the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, where several senior leaders will address the gathering.

Leaders from all MVA parties — including the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress — along with MNS president Raj Thackeray, are expected to participate. Raj Thackeray will travel from Dadar to CSMT by local train and lead the march from the front, which has generated enthusiasm among party workers.

At a recent meeting held at Rangsharda Auditorium, Raj Thackeray had highlighted the discrepancies in voter lists and urged Mumbaikars to participate in large numbers. MNS had earlier exposed similar irregularities in Navi Mumbai, sparking a wider state-level debate.

The protestors have placed four key demands before the State Election Commission:

  1. Immediate updating of all voter lists across Maharashtra.
  2. Removal of duplicate and fake entries.
  3. Postponement of local body elections until the lists are corrected.
  4. Extension of the voter registration deadline till November 7.

MVA leaders have clarified that these demands go beyond politics, describing the protest as a movement to protect the democratic process.

Heavy crowds are expected along the protest route. Prominent leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Balasaheb Thorat, Vijay Wadettiwar, Jayant Patil, Supriya Sule, Aaditya Thackeray, Amit Thackeray, and Bala Nandgaonkar, will address the gathering outside the BMC headquarters.

However, not all Congress leaders are on board with the joint protest. State Congress president Harshavardhan Sapkal and former president Nana Patole are reportedly skipping the event, while Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad’s participation remains uncertain. This has exposed internal differences within the Congress over aligning with the MNS, with some leaders fearing confusion among the party’s traditional voter base.

Despite this, senior Congress figures such as Balasaheb Thorat, Vijay Wadettiwar, and Naseem Khan are set to attend, confirming the party’s partial support for the joint protest.
