Pune: PMC Intensifies Action Against Illegal Commercial Activities Through Tempo In Viman Nagar
Pune, November 1, 2025: In a decisive move to regulate unauthorized commercial activities, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a special inspection drive in the Viman Nagar area under the jurisdiction of the Nagar Road Regional Office. The operation, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ramesh Shelar, resulted in stern action against an illegal tempo operator engaged in unlicensed business activities.
During the inspection, Dr. Shelar personally supervised the proceedings and directed officials to take immediate enforcement action. The illegal tempo was seized, and a fine of ₹15,000 was imposed on the violator. The confiscated vehicle was later deposited at the ward office as part of the formal procedure.
Authorities stated that such unauthorized tempo operations have become a recurring issue in several parts of the city. These vehicles are often used for business without proper permits and are parked along public roads, leading to congestion and obstructing traffic movement, particularly in high-density areas.
Following the inspection, Dr. Shelar instructed all divisional encroachment inspectors, encroachment officers, and assistant encroachment officers to take stringent action against similar violations across Pune. He emphasized that encroachment and misuse of public roads for private business would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The directive also covers tempos used in weekly markets, where many vendors utilize such vehicles for unregistered commercial activities. The PMC plans to continue monitoring these zones to ensure that roads remain clear and accessible to the public.
Dr. Shelar reaffirmed that the PMC’s ongoing enforcement drives aim to uphold traffic discipline, public safety, and civic order in the city. He appealed to residents and business operators to cooperate with municipal authorities in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized urban environment.
