Pune: SPPU Grants One-Year Extension to Students with Expired Registration and PRN Validity
SPPU Opens Admissions For UG, PG 2026–27 Academic Year; Applications Open Till May 15
Pune, November 10, 2025: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced a major relief for students whose academic validity or permanent registration number (PRN) has expired under the non-NEP (National Education Policy) system. The university has approved a one-year extension — effectively an N+2+1 duration — allowing such students to complete their courses and appear for final examinations.
According to the decision taken by university authorities, students who have completed their N+2 duration or whose PRN validity has lapsed will be granted one additional academic year to finish their remaining coursework.
Even students whose validity period exceeds the N+2+1 structure will be permitted to complete the final year of their non-NEP course if they are currently enrolled in it.
The university has already started identifying eligible students from its official database. A dedicated system and procedure are being developed to streamline the process. Once finalised, examination forms for all eligible students will be accepted separately.
SPPU will also conduct a comprehensive review of each case, considering factors such as attendance, academic records for 2025–26, and completion of final-year requirements through respective colleges. A separate examination schedule and detailed circular will be issued soon.
The university has advised students and parents to communicate only with authorised college officials for updates and to ignore any unofficial information circulating online. SPPU emphasised that all data verification regarding academic validity and PRN status will be handled solely through its official system.
