Pune, November 12, 2025 — The Shivajinagar police have registered a case against the administration of Centro Mall on Ganeshkhind Road for allegedly failing to assist an injured woman who was trapped inside an elevator.

According to police reports, a 55-year-old woman from Shivajinagar lodged a complaint stating that the incident occurred on October 12, between 6 pm and 9 pm, while she and two relatives were shopping for Diwali at the mall.

While using the lift, it suddenly stopped working, trapping the three inside. In an attempt to get out, one of her relatives struck the glass panel of the lift, causing shards to hit the woman and injure her forehead.

Despite the injury, the complaint alleges that neither the mall’s administrative officers nor the maintenance staff arrived to help.

Following the complaint, Shivajinagar police booked mall officials — Satprit Awasthi, Parvender Kumar, Parag Harde, and Abhijit Kolhatkar — under charges of negligence and dereliction of duty.

The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Shinde.
