Mumbai Railway Megablock Scheduled on Nov 16 Across Key Lines; Commuters Advised to Plan Travel
Major Line Blocks on Western & Central Railway on November 16 — Suburban Services to Be Affected
Mumbai’s suburban train network will face major operational changes on Sunday, November 16, as both Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) carry out important maintenance work across several routes.
Western Railway: 5-Hour Jumbo Block
Western Railway will operate a Jumbo Block from 10 am to 3 pm between:
- Borivali and Ram Mandir on the Up Fast line
- Ram Mandir and Goregaon on the Down Fast line
During this period:
- Up Fast trains will run on the Up Slow line between Borivali and Andheri.
- Down Fast trains will move on the Down Slow line between Andheri and Goregaon.
- Some Up and Down suburban trains will be cancelled.
- Certain Harbour line trains to Andheri and Borivali will be short-terminated at Goregaon.
WR spokesperson Vineeth Abhishek said these blocks are essential for safe track, signalling and overhead work, ensuring long-term reliability despite temporary delays and cancellations.
Central Railway: 4-Hour Mega Block
Central Railway will simultaneously operate a Mega Block from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm, impacting the Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines.
Main Line (CSMT–Vidyavihar)
- Both Up and Down slow services will be affected.
- Down slow trains leaving CSMT between 10.48 am – 3.45 pm will run on the Down Fast line up to Vidyavihar, halting at major stations including Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla.
- Up slow trains from Ghatkopar between 10.19 am – 3.52 pm will use the Up Fast line till CSMT, stopping at all major stations.
Harbour Line
- Services between Panvel and Vashi (excluding the Port Line) will be cancelled from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm.
- All CSMT–Panvel and CSMT–Belapur/Panvel trains during this time will remain suspended.
Trans-Harbour Line
- Panvel–Thane services will be cancelled:
- Up trains: 11.02 am – 3.53 pm
- Down trains: 10.01 am – 3.20 pm
- Services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will continue as usual.
Port Line
- Port Line services will operate normally.
Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly due to expected delays, diversions and cancellations across the network.
