Pune: Industrial LPG Explosion in Bhosari MIDC; PCMC Fire Brigade’s Swift Response Prevents Major Escalation
Pimpri, 30 November 2025: A sudden LPG-linked explosion triggered a fire at Ambika Powder Coating, located in the Bhosari MIDC industrial area, on Saturday, 29 November. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Fire Brigade reached the spot within minutes and contained the situation, preventing the blaze from spreading to adjoining units. One worker sustained serious injuries while five others suffered minor burn injuries. All injured workers were given first aid and shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The incident occurred around 3:45 pm when an unexpected blast inside the unit resulted in a rapid spread of fire accompanied by dense smoke, causing panic in the vicinity. Local residents immediately alerted the Fire Brigade control room.
Teams from the Main Fire Station (Pimpri), Nehrunagar Sub-Station and Bhosari Sub-Station were rushed to the site. Upon arrival, the responders conducted a quick assessment and initiated firefighting and rescue operations. Given the presence of multiple LPG cylinders and intense heat, the operation was challenging. Fire personnel ensured all workers were safely evacuated and the fire brought under control without further hazards.
A total of 30 fire personnel, led by Deputy Fire Officers Gautam Ingawale and Dilip Gaikwad, worked in coordination to manage the emergency. A preliminary assessment suggests that leakage of LPG from cylinders may have led to a vapour cloud explosion. The exact cause is under investigation by the Fire Brigade and other concerned authorities.
The Fire Department has appealed to all industrial units to strictly adhere to fire-safety protocols and to immediately report emergencies on 101.
