Continuing its mission to bring hands-on science education to remote schools, the Rural Education Advancement Trust (REAT) has announced its second annual Vigyan Video Spardha for the year 2026.

Open to students from across Maharashtra, the competition invites young learners to showcase their scientific curiosity and creativity through video submissions, with the last date for entry set for December 31, 2025.

REAT, founded by alumni of the Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli (1994 batch), has been working for years to bridge the educational gap in rural Maharashtra through its flagship ‘Lab on Wheels’ (Firti Prayogshala) initiative. This mobile science lab project currently serves over 8,000 students across 60+ schools in districts such as Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur, by bringing laboratory equipment and guided experiments directly to classrooms.

“We started this trust about 5–6 years ago with the aim of supporting students in rural areas where lab facilities are scarce,” explained Ravi Bhosale, a REAT member and resident of Roseland Society. “Under ‘Lab on Wheels’, we form school clusters, provide equipment, and train teachers to conduct experiments for students from standards 5 to 10. Our goal is to reach at least 100 schools.”

The Vigyan Video Spardha is an extension of REAT’s effort to promote experiential learning, as emphasized in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Last year’s competition saw enthusiastic participation from students in remote talukas, and the trust aims to widen its reach this year.

“We collaborate with local NGOs and leverage CSR funds from companies to sustain and expand our work,” Bhosale added. “The video competition is a way to engage students beyond the classroom and encourage scientific thinking.”

Interested students can register and submit their science project videos through the official REAT website.
