Pune, December 4, 2025: Pune’s 12-year-old robotics sensation, Aatmaj Parag Jain, has scaled a monumental peak by being crowned the World Champion (Rank #1) at the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad (FIRO) 2024, held in Rome, Italy, on November 22. This historic victory follows his earlier national triumph that qualified him for this prestigious global stage, marking a flawless journey from national standout to world champion.

Aatmaj, who had previously won national accolades and earned the sole Indian berth in his category, competed in the olympiad’s most challenging segment, the Green Entrepreneurship Challenge for the 10-14 years age group. He surpassed participants from 21 leading robotics and STEM-innovator nations, showcasing extraordinary skill and composure to secure the top honor.

The FIRO is recognized globally as a premier platform for young innovators in Robotics and STEM. Aatmaj’s category is specially regarded as the toughest for middle-school participants, requiring not only technical excellence but also skills in innovation, entrepreneurship, and presentation.

From National Qualifier to Global Victor

Earlier this year, Aatmaj had made headlines after winning a national robotics championship, which secured his place as India’s only representative in his category at FIRO. In Rome, he impressed multiple jury panels through rigorous filtration rounds with his advanced technical knowledge and confident project presentations. He also delivered a compelling product investment pitch to a grand jury of investors, demonstrating remarkable clarity and mastery over his project.

A Self-Made Triumph

Remarkably, Aatmaj managed his entire project single-handedly, without a mentor or external technical support, a fact highlighted by his parents, who called him a “one-man army.” His dedication stems from a deep-rooted passion for electronics and robotics, a field in which he was inspired and informally trained by his grandfather, Nemichandji Arpal, a well-respected technical expert in the electricity board.

“His technical insight and dedication seem inherited,” his parents shared. “We have seen this spark since childhood, nurtured by the guidance and legacy of his grandfather.”

Accolades and Future Opportunities

Along with the World Champion title, Aatmaj has been awarded a Fellowship Program for Young Innovators in Robotics, scheduled to take place in Europe in March 2026. This opportunity will allow him to further hone his skills alongside the world’s brightest young minds.

A Beacon for Young India

Aatmaj’s journey from a national winner to a world champion serves as an inspiring narrative for young aspirants across India, proving that with passion, perseverance, and innate talent, Indian students can lead on the international stage. His success also underscores the importance of encouraging STEM education and innovation from an early age.

The community, his school, and well-wishers across the nation have extended their heartiest congratulations to the young champion, eagerly watching as he continues to follow in his grandfather’s technical footsteps and shapes the future of robotics.
