PCMC’s ‘Waste to Art’ Initiative Transforms Neglected Spots into Vibrant Community Spaces
Pimpri, December 5, 2025: In a creative push to convert waste-prone public spaces into clean, attractive zones, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has successfully executed another striking makeover under its ‘Waste to Art’ initiative. A once-neglected spot near Bharat Gas Agency at Vikas Colony in Bhosari has now turned into a colourful, art-filled public space that is drawing enthusiastic appreciation from residents.

Led by Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal and Assistant Commissioner Amit Pandit, the initiative emphasises artistic reuse of discarded materials to discourage littering and enhance neighbourhood aesthetics.
Under the leadership of E-ward Officer Tanaji Narale, the ward team transformed old tyres, torn posters, wooden planks, bamboo and worn-out bricks into an eye-catching installation. Bright rangoli patterns, cleanliness-themed displays and thoughtful visual arrangements have completely revitalised the stretch.

The project has been widely acknowledged as a creative model for community-driven beautification, demonstrating how waste can be repurposed to inspire civic responsibility. Senior Health Officer Rajesh Bhat, Chief Health Inspector Atul Sonawane, Health Inspector Gaurav Gaikwad and several PCMC staff members played a key role in executing the makeover.
PCMC officials noted that such transformations not only beautify neighbourhoods but also strengthen public awareness around cleanliness, sustainability and responsible waste management.
