PMC Cracks Down on Encroachments in Pune’s Baner, Clears Nearly 19,850 Sq Ft of Illegal Constructions
Illegal Constructions Demolished in Baner by PMC
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday carried out a demolition drive in Baner and removed illegal constructions spread over nearly 19,850 square feet.
The action was taken on December 18 by the PMC Building Development Department (Zone No. 3). Unauthorised structures such as hotels, tin sheds, and permanent buildings built without permission were demolished near River Front Society at Jupiter Chowk and near the Baner Covid Centre.
Civic officials said that around 15 notices were earlier given to the property owners. Since the illegal structures were not removed even after repeated warnings, the PMC carried out the demolition.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of senior PMC officials, with engineers, civic staff, and police personnel present to maintain law and order. Two JCB machines, a gas cutter, and a team of ten workers were used during the operation.
