Pune Man Arrested for Rape and Forgery After Impregnating Minor, Girl’s Mother Also Charged
A shocking case of sexual exploitation and document forgery has emerged from Pune, where a 25-year-old man allegedly abused a minor girl over the course of a year, resulting in her pregnancy. Authorities discovered that he had admitted the girl to Sassoon Hospital for delivery using a fake birth certificate from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to make her appear as an adult. The minor successfully delivered her baby at the hospital despite the deception.
Pune police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 376 and 196 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following a complaint from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
The girl’s mother has also been charged, as officials allege she was aware of the sexual exploitation of her daughter but failed to intervene.
A senior police officer explained, “During the investigation, we recovered a copy of the birth certificate used by the accused. Verification with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation confirmed that the document was forged. Both the accused and the girl’s mother have been booked under the relevant IPC and POCSO sections. The investigation is still ongoing.”
