Pune: NCP Sharadchandra Pawar City President Prashant Jagtap Resigns
Pune, December 24, 2025: President of Pune City of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) Prashant Jagtqp formally announced his resignation from the party’s primary and active membership on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the leadership for the opportunities given over the years.
In a statement to mediapersons in Pune, he said he entered the social and political arena 27 years ago, not in pursuit of any post or position, but with the sole objective of advancing progressive ideology. He emphasised that even after nearly three decades, this commitment remains unchanged and continues to guide his actions.
“I am resigning today from the primary and active membership of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction). I sincerely thank the leadership for the opportunities extended to me so far,” the statement read.
Recalling his long journey, he said that his association with public life has always been rooted in ideology rather than ambition. He asserted that his resolve to work for progressive values is as strong today as it was when he first stepped into social and political work 27 years ago.

He further clarified that his resignation from the party does not mark an end to his public engagement. On the contrary, he reiterated that his social and political journey would continue, driven by the same progressive ideals that inspired him at the outset.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to party workers and supporters who stood by him with loyalty throughout his journey and those who have assured him of their support in future struggles as well.
Concluding his statement he underlined his commitment to constitutional values and progressive thought, signalling that his future course of action will remain aligned with these principles.
