Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police Take Action Against Drunk Driving And Tinted Films; 365 Booked, ₹13.8 Lakh Fine Collected
Pimpri-Chinchwad, December 29, 2025: To curb road accidents caused by drunk driving, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive against drunken driving and vehicles fitted with black films. The campaign was carried out across the city between December 20 and December 28, 2025, under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
As part of the special drive, traffic police teams set up checkpoints across all traffic divisions and carried out extensive vehicle inspections. During the operation, legal action was taken against 365 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol. These offenders were booked under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and produced before the court, with penalties imposed as per the law.
In addition, action was taken against 1,156 vehicles fitted with black films. A total fine of ₹13,84,000 was collected from these violators.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Branch has appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic rules, stating that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence that significantly increases the risk of accidents. Citizens have been urged to act responsibly to ensure their own safety as well as that of others on the road.
Police officials also informed that the special drive against drunk driving will continue till December 31, 2025.
