Seven Toothbrushes and Two Iron Sheets Found in Stomach During Shocking Surgery on Young Man, Doctors Stunned
Rajasthan doctors remove seven toothbrushes and iron tools from a 26-year-old man’s stomach after a two-hour surgery, calling the case extremely rare.
A shocking medical case has emerged from Jaipur, Rajasthan, where doctors at a private hospital removed seven toothbrushes and two iron tools from the stomach of a young man who had been suffering from severe abdominal pain for weeks.
The patient, a 26-year-old resident of Bhilwara district, was admitted after complaining of persistent stomach pain that did not subside despite local treatment near his home. As his condition worsened, the family brought him to Jaipur for further medical evaluation.
During sonography and further investigations, doctors were stunned to find multiple foreign objects inside the stomach. What initially appeared to be a routine abdominal complaint turned into a rare and complicated surgical case.
According to hospital sources, an endoscopy was attempted but failed to remove the objects. A senior gastroenterologist and his team then decided to proceed with open surgery. The operation lasted more than two hours.
After the surgery, doctors removed seven toothbrushes and two iron tools from the patient’s stomach.
According to doctors, “the young man’s stomach had become like a dustbin. The prolonged presence of this material in his stomach had increased the risk of pain and infection. It was fortunate that the operation was performed in time, as otherwise the situation could have been fatal.”
Dr. Tanmay Pareek said the patient had a habit of swallowing metal tools and toothbrushes. He began swallowing these items about a month ago, but over time the habit became life-threatening as the pain intensified.
“Doctors say such cases are extremely rare,” hospital officials noted, adding that the patient is now stable and under close medical supervision following the surgery.
The incident has left even experienced doctors shocked and is being described as a serious warning about the dangers of ingesting foreign objects, which can lead to severe complications and even death if not treated in time.
