The Bollywood star says he “laughed the loudest” after watching Sunil Grover’s spot-on impersonation on The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show.

Sunil Grover’s uncanny impersonation of Aamir Khan on The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show has not only won over audiences but also earned glowing praise from the actor himself. Clips of Grover mimicking Aamir’s mannerisms, expressions and distinctive speaking style have gone viral on social media, with many viewers momentarily mistaking him for the real star.

Reacting to the performance, Aamir Khan said he found the act so authentic that he would not even label it as mimicry. Speaking about Grover’s act, Aamir shared, “I won’t even call it mimicry. It was so authentic, I felt I was watching myself. I saw a small clip. Now I’m going to watch the whole episode. But what I saw was priceless. I was laughing so much I couldn’t breathe!!”

The actor also addressed how impersonations can sometimes offend celebrities, but made it clear that this was not the case here. “There was no malice in it at all. I must have laughed the loudest,” he said, underlining that the humour came from admiration rather than mockery.

Sunil Grover’s performance quickly became the highlight of the episode, with fans praising his attention to detail and ability to capture Aamir Khan’s restrained intensity and conversational tone. Several social media users commented that Grover looked “more Aamir than Aamir Khan himself,” while others joked that even artificial intelligence could not replicate someone so precisely.

Comments poured in from viewers expressing disbelief at the resemblance. “Oh bhai, mujhe laga Aamir aaya hai (I thought Aamir himself had come),” one user wrote.

Another said, “At first look, I thought it’s Aamir Khan himself. This guy is extremely talented.”

Some fans even compared Grover’s chameleon-like skills to advanced technology, quipping that “AI takes prompts from Sunil Grover.”

Grover, who has been part of Indian television and cinema for over two decades, continues to be a key presence on the current season of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show streaming on Netflix. Known for his comic brilliance, he has also explored darker and more serious roles in recent films, including Jawan and Dabba Cartel.

With Aamir Khan himself applauding the act, Sunil Grover’s mimicry has now been cemented as one of the most talked-about moments of the season, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most versatile performers in Indian entertainment.
