₹100 Crore Defamation Case Filed Against Actress Khushi Mukherjee Over Remarks On Suryakumar Yadav
Social media influencer Faizan Ansari moves court demanding FIR and strict action, calling the claims harmful to the cricketer’s reputation.
A major controversy has erupted after a ₹100 crore defamation case was filed against actress Khushi Mukherjee over her remarks involving Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav. The legal action was initiated by Mumbai-based social media influencer Faizan Ansari, who accused Mukherjee of making false and damaging statements that could harm the reputation of an international sportsperson.
The case was filed on January 13, with Ansari submitting a complaint at the Ghazipur police station. He has demanded that an FIR be registered immediately against the actress and that strict legal action be taken. According to him, Mukherjee’s remarks were made purely for publicity and amounted to character assassination of the cricketer.
The controversy began when Khushi Mukherjee was speaking to paparazzi at a social event and was asked about dating cricketers. During the interaction, she said she did not want to date any cricketer and claimed that many cricketers had shown interest in her. In the same conversation, she alleged that Suryakumar Yadav “used to message her a lot” earlier, though they were no longer in touch. She also said she did not want her name to be linked with him.
Her statements spread rapidly across social media platforms, triggering intense debate and criticism. Many users questioned the appropriateness of making such claims publicly, especially when it involved a well-known national sports figure.

In his complaint, Faizan Ansari described the remarks as defamatory and irresponsible. He alleged that Mukherjee’s comments could seriously damage Suryakumar Yadav’s image, both personally and professionally. He further demanded severe punishment, including a jail term of at least seven years, and insisted that strong charges be applied.
Speaking to reporters, Ansari said, “We want an FIR to be registered immediately against Khushi Mukherjee. I have mentioned this in my written complaint and requested strict action. At the very least, serious charges should be applied.”
He added, “More than two million people follow me on Instagram, and crores of people watch my videos. It is my responsibility to take this issue to every corner of the world. I am not afraid of anyone. I only want justice.”
Ansari also stated that he would remain in Ghazipur until action was taken, saying, “Until I get justice, I will stay in Ghazipur city.”
Following the backlash, Khushi Mukherjee issued a clarification in an interview with NDTV. She stated that she never had any romantic relationship with Suryakumar Yadav and claimed that her words had been misunderstood and exaggerated. She said her interaction with him in the past was strictly friendly.

Mukherjee further alleged that her Instagram account had been hacked, which she suggested could have contributed to the confusion surrounding her statements. She clarified that she had spoken to Suryakumar only as a friend and that they had not been in touch for a long time. According to her, the conversations happened after a match loss and were casual in nature.
She also said that she had not contacted Suryakumar even after the controversy erupted and expressed her support for Team India and its captain ahead of upcoming international tournaments. Emphasising that there was no personal relationship involved, she maintained that her intention was never to damage anyone’s reputation.
The incident has once again highlighted how celebrity remarks, when made casually in public spaces, can escalate into major legal and reputational issues. With the defamation claim involving a staggering ₹100 crore, the case has drawn wide attention across social media and entertainment circles.
For now, the matter rests with the authorities, who will decide whether an FIR will be registered and what legal course the case will take. The outcome is likely to set an important precedent on how public allegations involving high-profile individuals are treated under defamation law.
