Pune MP Mohol Orders Removal Of Flex Banners, Including Those By Newly Elected Corporators
Pune, January 22, 2026: Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol on Wednesday directed municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram to remove all unauthorised flex banners and hoardings across the city — including those put up by newly elected corporators from his own party.
The BJP’s election manifesto had promised to make Pune “banner-free”, citing concerns about visual pollution and damage to the city’s skyline. However, soon after the municipal election results, banners were installed across the city by leaders from multiple parties, mainly the BJP, leading to criticism.
Speaking at the Pune Union of Working Journalists programme, Mohol acknowledged the contradiction but maintained that the party would fulfil its commitments.
“It is true that elected members from all parties have put up flex banners across the city. However, we are committed to our promises. I have instructed the municipal commissioner to take action against all unauthorised banners,” he said, adding that he would personally request party members to stop putting up new hoardings.
While Mohol did not give a timeline for removal, he assured that the civic administration would act as appropriate. He reiterated that citizens had voted for development and that the government would work on equitable water distribution and improving cleanliness and safety in Pune.
On the topic of nominated corporators, Mohol clarified that while the BJP, with 119 corporators, can nominate seven members to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), it would not allot any positions to Shiv Sena members since both parties contested against each other.
