Pune authorities are investigating the tragic death of Piyush Oswal, 27, from Wai, Satara, who had been missing for eight days. His body was discovered in a lodge in Pune’s Camp area, and preliminary reports indicate he died by suicide.

The grim find took place at Mukesh Lodge when staff noticed a foul odor coming from a locked room. Unable to get a response, the lodge management alerted Bundgarden Police. Upon entering, police found Piyush had hanged himself. Officials estimate he may have been dead for two to three days before being found.

Piyush had left home eight days prior, prompting his family to report him missing at the Wai Police Station. While relatives and police conducted searches, the tragic discovery in Pune ended the eight-day-long search.

A spot inquest was conducted, and the body was sent to Sassoon Hospital for autopsy. Authorities are investigating:

• When Piyush arrived in Pune

• How long he stayed at the lodge

• Possible reasons behind the suicide

An Accidental Death Report (ADR) is being processed at Bundgarden Police Station, with coordination from Wai Police.
