The journey of Indian Railways has come a long way—from the humble beginnings of the first steam engines and all-day sleeper trains to today’s modern, semi-high-speed marvels. Now, travelling by train is not just about reaching a destination—it’s about comfort, cleanliness, and convenience. The newly introduced Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is a perfect example, designed to make overnight travel smooth, relaxing, and worry-free.

A recent Instagram video by traveller Ruchi Trivedi captures this transformation beautifully as she shares her first-hand experience on the Vande Bharat Sleeper, which recently started operating on the Howrah-Kamakhya route. In her virtual walkthrough of the sleeper second AC coach, Ruchi highlights the train’s contemporary design, impressive amenities, and thoughtful passenger comfort features.

The sleeper coach stands out for its privacy and ambient setting. Beige curtains, soft lighting, and a calm atmosphere enhance the travel experience, while each berth is equipped with personal touch-based or adjustable reading lamps, giving passengers control over their environment.

Ruchi also points out the brand-new blankets in two tones—a soothing blue-green and a lighter soft-toned variant—each with subtle prints and the Indian Railways emblem. “It feels good to see it for the first time,” she remarks, adding, “My personal experience is good, of course.” The new blankets also feature customised covers for added comfort.

Importantly, Ruchi emphasizes civic responsibility alongside comfort: “Keep in mind the civic sense. Let the train be shining like this. This is our responsibility too.”

Her captions on social media echo the broader appeal of the train: “A changed face of Indian Railways with world-class interiors, well-lit cabins, spacious modern toilets, new blankets, and printed blanket covers instead of plain white sheets. Overall, the experience as a traveller onboard felt no less than an international train trip in India.”

Ruchi’s video also gives viewers a look into the advanced restroom facilities on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. Key highlights include:

• Bio-vacuum toilets designed for eco-friendly waste management

• Odour control and deodorisation systems

• Sensor-activated taps and touchless water dispensers

• Anti-spill toilet seats and basins

• Hot water showers in 1st AC coaches

• UV disinfection and RO-purified water

• Spacious and ergonomic layouts with premium fittings

• Anti-bacterial surfaces and mirrors

• Sensor-based liquid soap dispensers

The Vande Bharat Sleeper now connects Howrah and Kamakhya over a 14-hour overnight journey, covering approximately 1,000 km. The 16-coach train features bio-vacuum toilets, CCTV surveillance, overhead storage, and dedicated luggage areas for passenger convenience.

Passengers can also enjoy regional culinary options, including Bengali and Assamese dishes, included as part of the ticket fare.

Ruchi’s detailed review paints a picture of a modern, clean, and comfortable travel experience while reminding passengers of their shared responsibility to maintain the train’s pristine condition. The Vande Bharat Sleeper truly represents the evolution of Indian Railways—combining speed, luxury, and civic awareness in one seamless travel experience.
