New Delhi: After the presentation of Union Budget 2026 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Indian bullion market witnessed sharp volatility in gold and silver prices. After touching record highs earlier this week, both precious metals saw a sudden correction, leaving investors surprised. Market experts, however, believe that policy continuity in the Budget will help restore stability in the coming days.

On Sunday, the price of 24-carat gold in Delhi was recorded at ₹16,073 per gram. According to jewellery industry experts, the Budget’s stable and business-friendly approach is expected to support long-term planning for both jewellers and consumers.

Budget 2026 Impact on Jewellery Industry

Dishi Somani, Founder of DishiS Designer Jewellery, said that for Indian households, gold and silver are not just metals but symbols of emotional and financial security. She noted that Budget 2026 adopts a stable regulatory approach towards the gold and silver industry, which is crucial for market confidence.

According to Somani, supportive policies for MSMEs and a business-friendly environment will encourage transparency, responsible sourcing, and design innovation in the jewellery sector. This shift is expected to meet the evolving demands of modern consumers while strengthening trust across the entire jewellery ecosystem.

Silver Falls from Record High, Gold Also Corrects

Silver recently hit an all-time high of ₹4,04,500 per kilogram on Thursday but witnessed a sharp correction of nearly 15 percent in the following session. Gold prices also retreated from their peak of ₹1,83,000 per 10 grams to around ₹1,69,000 per 10 grams.

Why Did Prices Fall?

Experts attribute the decline to a stronger US dollar and profit booking at elevated price levels. However, they remain optimistic that clear policy signals and fiscal stability outlined in Budget 2026 will help the bullion market regain balance soon.
