Pune: Ravi Landge Set To Become PCMC Mayor As BJP Reaffirms Focus On Sustainable Growth in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri-Chinchwad, February 2, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reiterated its commitment to the sustainable development of Pimpri-Chinchwad, with party leader and MLA Mahesh Landge stating that unity and collective effort will drive the city’s progress in the coming years.
Addressing party workers and leaders, Landge said internal differences within the community had been resolved ahead of the municipal elections. “Differences that arose during the Assembly elections have now been set aside. We have decided to work together with a united approach for the municipal elections and for the overall development of the city,” he said.
For the post of Mayor of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, the ruling BJP has filed the nomination of corporator Ravi Landge, who has been elected unopposed. Meanwhile, corporator Sharmila Babar has submitted her nomination for the post of Deputy Mayor.
A large number of senior leaders, office-bearers and party workers were present on the occasion, including ruling party leader Prashant Shitole, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap, MLC Uma Khapre, former Standing Committee chairman Adv. Nitin Landge, state executive member Sadashiv Khade, senior corporator Anuradha Gorkhe, corporator Namrata Londhe, BJP Yuva Morcha state president Anup More, senior corporator Raju Misal, South Indian Front chief Rajesh Pille, corporator Abhishek Barne, and former Deputy Mayor Keshav Gholve, among others.
Mahesh Landge said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP state president Ravindra Chavan, Ravi Babasaheb Landge—elected unopposed for the second consecutive term—has filed his nomination for the Mayor’s post. “The BJP has a clear majority in the civic body, making his election as Mayor a certainty,” he added.
Tribute and Call for Restraint
Paying tribute to late city leader Ankushrao Landge, the MLA said the party continues to be guided by his ideals. “A member of his family assuming the role of the city’s first citizen will be a true tribute to his legacy,” he said, expressing confidence that the new leadership will work inclusively for sustainable development.
Mahesh Landge also announced that in view of the untimely demise of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the BJP will not hold any celebrations following the Mayor or Deputy Mayor’s election. He appealed to party workers and office-bearers to maintain restraint and pay homage to the departed leader.
Party Reaction
Confirming the developments, Landge said the election of Ravi Landge as Mayor and Prashant Shitole as Leader of the Ruling Party is assured, while Sharmila Babar has been nominated for Deputy Mayor. “Unity is essential for Pimpri-Chinchwad’s sustainable development. We will work together to achieve this goal. Congratulations to the newly elected office-bearers and best wishes for their future responsibilities,” he said.
