Pune: Vadgaon Sheri Resident Raises Alarm Over Neglect Of Musical Fountain, Cleanliness At Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Garden
Pune, February 4, 2026: Concerns over the prolonged neglect of public amenities at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Garden in the Vadgaon Sheri area have been formally raised with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Sushama Patil, a local resident and social activist from Vadgaon Sheri, submitted a written complaint to PMC’s Chief Garden Superintendent Ashok Ghorpade, highlighting that several public facilities at the garden have remained non-functional and unused for the past three years.
Patil stated that public amenities created using taxpayers’ money must be properly maintained and kept operational strictly for public use. According to her complaint, the musical fountain at the garden has been shut for years, mural paintings are in a deteriorated condition, and there is a demand to increase the size of the pagoda to improve the overall utility and aesthetics of the garden.
She also pointed out that despite repeatedly informing garden authorities through phone calls, no concrete action had been taken, prompting her to submit a formal written application.
Responding to the complaint, PMC officials have assured that the pending works will be taken up and the facilities will be made operational within a month.
