Pimpri, February 12, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will organise a five-day ‘Vichar Prabodhan Parva’ from February 15 to 19 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As part of the celebrations, a grand historical mega-play titled ‘Shivgarjana’ will be staged on February 17, 18 and 19 at the proposed Mayor’s Residence ground in Nigdi Pradhikaran.

The large-scale theatrical production, which has previously been performed in the presence of the President of India, will feature more than 250 artists along with live horses and camels. The show will incorporate elaborate sets, spectacular fireworks, advanced lighting and sound design to recreate significant events from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Mayor Ravi Landge will inaugurate the mega-play on February 17 at 6.30 pm.

Depicting Key Moments from Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Life

The production will bring to life several historic episodes, including the period before Shivaji Maharaj’s birth, his childhood, his meeting with Sant Tukaram Maharaj (Bhakti-Shakti meeting), the conquest of Torna Fort, the struggle for establishing Swarajya, the farmers’ edicts, the Pratapgad campaign, the siege and escape from Panhala Fort, the establishment of the Maratha navy, the Treaty of Purandar, the Agra visit, the capture of Kondhana by Narveer Tanaji Malusare, and the grand coronation ceremony.

Officials said the mega-play aims to inspire citizens by showcasing the valour, governance principles and visionary leadership of Shivaji Maharaj.

Dignitaries to Attend

Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Sunetra Pawar are expected to attend the event. State ministers Chandrakant Patil and Dattatray Bharane, Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, and several Members of Parliament and MLAs will also be present.

Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, ruling party leader Prashant Shitole, Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar and other senior civic officials and corporators are also expected to attend, along with members of the Bhakti Shakti Shiv Jayanti Utsav Committee, social activists and citizens.

Civic Arrangements in Place

PCMC has stated that adequate seating arrangements, traffic planning, security measures and essential civic facilities will be provided at the venue for the convenience of attendees.

In a statement, Mayor Ravi Landge said, “The thoughts and achievements of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj continue to guide every generation. Through the Vichar Prabodhan Parva, we aim to bring his life’s work and the message of Swarajya to the citizens. I appeal to residents to attend ‘Shivgarjana’ with their families and draw inspiration from Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals.”
