Pune, February 13, 2026: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has issued an order allowing limited relaxation in the use of loudspeakers and sound amplification systems for 15 days during the 2026 festival calendar.

The relaxation has been granted under Rule 5(3) of the amended 2017 Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules notified by the central government. On the specified days, loudspeakers and amplifiers may be used from 6 am until midnight, subject to prescribed conditions.

The permitted days include major public celebrations such as Shiv Jayanti (February 19), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14), Maharashtra Day (May 1), Ganpati festival, Eid-e-Milad, and Anant Chaturdashi (for six days from September 19, 20, 22, 23, 24 and 25), Navratri (October 19 and 20), Christmas (December 25), and New Year’s Eve (December 31). Two additional days have been kept in reserve for other significant events, with permissions to be granted as required.

The order specifies that sound levels must remain within the limits prescribed for respective zones, and the relaxation will not apply to designated silence zones. Authorities concerned have been directed to ensure strict implementation of these conditions.

The district administration has appealed to citizens and organisers to adhere to the rules and cooperate in maintaining public order and environmental norms during the festive period.
