Power Disruption Hits Bhosari–Pimpri After Fresh Fault At 220 kV Extra-High Voltage Substation
Pune | February 16, 2026:
A fresh technical fault has occurred at the 220 kV extra-high voltage (EHV) substation in Bhosari operated by Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahapareshan) Limited, impacting electricity supply in the Bhosari and Pimpri divisions.
According to officials, an internal fault developed in an 80 MVA EHV transformer at around 11:10 pm on Sunday (February 15, 2026). As a result, the 80 MVA electrical load dependent on this transformer was disrupted, affecting power consumers in the region.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (Mahavitaran) has appealed to electricity consumers for cooperation as restoration and alternate arrangements are underway.

- Emergency Restoration Efforts Underway
This is the second such incident at the same substation. On February 2, 2026, a similar internal fault had occurred in the 80 MVA transformer at the 220 kV Bhosari EHV substation. At that time, emergency alternative arrangements were implemented by Mahavitaran’s Bhosari and Pimpri divisions to restore power supply.
Currently, Mahavitaran teams are again working on a war footing to stabilize electricity supply through alternative power routing. Power has been partially restored by diverting additional load through other transmission lines. However, officials warned that this may lead to intermittent disruptions due to overload conditions, for which immediate corrective measures will be taken.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
Mahavitaran has urged consumers to use electricity judiciously and extend full cooperation while emergency measures continue to manage the unexpected power crisis. Authorities assured that all possible steps are being taken on priority to normalize power supply at the earliest.
