Pune: Traffic Congestion Near Delhi Public School Sparks Anger Among Mohamadwadi, Undri Residents

Pune, February 17, 2026: Residents of Mohamadwadi and Undri are raising serious concerns over recurring traffic chaos near Delhi Public School in Mohamadwadi, alleging that unchecked parking during school events and examinations is disrupting daily life.

According to locals, the situation worsens whenever the school hosts functions or conducts exams. Parents’ vehicles line both sides of the road, narrowing carriage space and leading to long traffic snarls around Mohamadwadi Chowk. On Tuesday morning around 9 am, congestion reportedly stretched up to the hilltop stretch connecting to Corinthians Country Club, severely affecting commuters.

Residents claim that school buses are frequently parked on an open plot opposite Nyati Estate during events. When these buses are later moved back into the campus, it further clogs the already strained road network. “The traffic comes to a complete standstill. Emergency vehicles would struggle to pass through,” said a local resident, expressing frustration over what he described as a recurring and unmanaged problem.

The Mohamadwadi Chowk junction, a key connector for residents of Undri and surrounding housing societies, was also heavily congested. Commuters reported delays of up to 30–45 minutes during peak dispersal hours.

Residents argue that the absence of a structured traffic management plan during large gatherings reflects poorly on both the institution and civic authorities. “This is not a one-off incident. It happens every time there is an event. Authorities wait for chaos to erupt instead of planning in advance,” said another resident.

When contacted, traffic officials from Kalepadal traffic division, API Pravin Jadhav acknowledged the issue and said that four traffic personnel were be deployed in the area to regulate vehicular movement and ease congestion during peak hours.

The school administration had not responded to queries at the time of publication regarding measures to prevent future disruptions.

With rapid urbanisation in Undri and Mohamadwadi increasing vehicular density, residents say repeated traffic breakdowns near major institutions point to an urgent need for coordinated planning, stricter parking enforcement and accountability before the inconvenience turns into a serious safety hazard.
