Meet Jalgaon’s Atharva Chauhan, Who Scored 99.78 Percentile In JEE Main 2026, Credits Parents And Teachers
The Maharashtra student broke a decade-old coaching record with a disciplined routine and consistent focus, bringing pride to the Khandesh region.
Atharva Avinash Chauhan, a student from Jalgaon in Maharashtra, has emerged as one of the standout performers in JEE Main 2026 (Session 1), scoring an impressive 99.78 percentile in Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.). His achievement has drawn attention across the state, as it marks one of the best results in the Khandesh region in recent years.
Atharva’s success has also created a milestone at his coaching centre, where teachers said he broke a 10-year-old record with his performance.
Speaking after the results, Atharva expressed happiness and credited the people around him for supporting his journey.
“I am very happy today. Seeing such good marks from me, my parents, teachers, and friends are all happy… I used to be in class from 7 am to 7 pm, attending lectures and studying both… I credit my success to my teachers, friends, and parents… Honesty and regularity are essential in exam preparation,” he said.

His father, Avinash Chauhan, said the family had strong confidence in Atharva’s abilities, pointing to his consistent academic record over the years.
“I’m very happy today. I was fully confident that he’d scored so many marks… His scores in school have always been good. In class 10th, he also scored 97% and came first in the district… He was always a topper in studies,” Avinash said.

He also shared that while Atharva maintained a disciplined routine, he allowed himself small breaks to refresh.
“Whenever he came home from coaching, he would play games on his mobile for 15-20 minutes or look at his laptop for a little while. But it was limited to that much, and after that, he would sit down to study on his own,” he added.
Atharva’s coaching teacher, Savita Vani, described the moment as a proud achievement for the institute.
“I am very happy that Atharva has broken the 10-year record at my coaching centre. He got a 99.78 percentile in the January shift of JEE Mains… He has achieved such a good result in the entire Khandesh region. That is a golden moment for me,” she said.
She also expressed confidence in his future performance, saying, “He possessed the qualities necessary for a good result… Atharva has passion, and he will perform equally well in the upcoming exams.”
The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently declared the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Paper 1 results, with 12 candidates securing a perfect 100 percentile. Atharva’s achievement adds to Maharashtra’s strong presence among top scorers this year.
With Session 2 and JEE Advanced still ahead, Atharva is now preparing for the next stage of his journey, aiming to secure admission to one of India’s premier engineering institutions.
