Pune: Hinjawadi IT Employees Raise Funds to Save Critically Injured Teen After Road Accident in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune | February 26, 2026: A group of IT professionals from Hinjawadi IT Park came together through crowd-funding and corporate social responsibility (CSR) support to save the life of a 15-year-old boy who was critically injured in a road accident last month.
The teenager, identified as Vishal Kumar, had travelled from another state and was selling balloons and toys on a road in Hinjawadi on the morning of January 25 when a goods vehicle allegedly ran over his leg, leaving him severely injured.
With his family unable to afford expensive medical treatment, several private hospitals reportedly declined to admit him due to financial constraints. After learning about the incident, the Forum for IT Employees (FITE), a collective of IT professionals in Hinjawadi, initiated a crowd-funding campaign to support the boy’s treatment.
Within a short period, members raised approximately ₹2.5 to ₹3 lakh through public contributions. Additional financial assistance of around ₹2.5 to ₹3 lakh was secured from the CSR fund of Infosys.
Using the combined funds, Vishal underwent surgery at Sancheti Hospital, where doctors successfully treated his injuries. The timely intervention not only saved his life but also prevented the permanent loss of his injured leg, according to organisers.
The initiative by Hinjawadi’s IT employees has drawn widespread appreciation for their swift action in assisting a minor accident victim from outside the state.
Pavanjeet Mane, President of the Forum for IT Employees, said the group has also appealed to Devendra Fadnavis, urging the state government to ensure that accident victims receive immediate medical treatment based on Aadhaar identification, without delays over income certificates or other documentation.
