Pune, February 27, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a public appeal urging citizens not to cut or damage trees for Holi celebrations, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators under existing tree protection laws.
In a press note released by the Information and Public Relations Office, PMC stated that the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Tree Preservation and Protection Act, 1975, along with the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Tree Protection and Conservation Rules, 2009, and subsequent directives of the Bombay High Court dated September 20, 2013, are applicable within its jurisdiction.
