Pune Civic Body Cracks Down On Illegal Encroachments in Warje-Karvenagar

Pune, February 27, 2026: A joint anti-encroachment operation was carried out in the Warje-Karvenagar regional office limits on Thursday, targeting illegal commercial setups along the riverbed and Karvenagar Road.

The action was undertaken by the encroachment removal team of Ward Office No. 3 under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), with support from personnel of the Maharashtra Security Force and municipal staff. Officials from multiple ward offices participated in the drive.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment/Unauthorized Construction Removal) Somnath Bankar, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Security Officer Dr. Ramesh Shelar, and Assistant Municipal Commissioner Asmita Tambe-Dhumal.

According to officials, a total of five truckloads of goods were confiscated during the action. The seized materials included 9 handcarts, 22 gas cylinders, 46 makeshift stalls, 10 iron grills, 1 counter unit, and around 20 other items such as pebbles, chairs, statues, commercial vehicles and related equipment.

Encroachment Inspector Mandar Rajkumar Karanje stated that similar drives will continue on a regular basis to curb unauthorized constructions and roadside encroachments within the jurisdiction.

Civic authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining public spaces free of illegal commercial activities and ensuring smoother movement along key roads in the area.
