Pratap Sarnaik Directs Immediate Halt to Wrong E-Challans Issued Via PTP App
Pune | March 2, 2026: Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has termed the PTP app of the Pune Traffic Police as “unfair” after allegations surfaced that vehicles parked within private parking premises were being wrongly issued e-challans.
The issue was raised during a high-level meeting with the Maharashtra Transport Action Committee, where Dr. Keshav Nana Kshirsagar strongly objected to the misuse of the app for issuing fines to legally parked vehicles. Transport bodies described the practice as harassment of citizens and misuse of enforcement powers.
Taking serious note of the complaints, Minister Sarnaik expressed concern over the functioning of the system and reprimanded senior police officials for allowing such practices. He directed authorities to immediately stop issuing challans to vehicles parked in private parking spaces through the PTP app.

The minister stated that wrongful actions by enforcement staff were causing unnecessary distress to citizens and undermining public trust in digital traffic enforcement systems. He stressed the need for accountability and corrective action to ensure fair and lawful implementation of traffic regulations.
Representatives from multiple transport associations across Maharashtra were present at the meeting, where the government assured a review of the PTP app’s operational framework to prevent misuse and protect citizens from unjust penalties.
