Quick roadblock operation by Pune rural police leads to dramatic rescue; two suspects arrested

A shocking kidnapping incident in Kapurhol village of Pune district created panic on Tuesday after the 18-year-old son of a prominent businessman was abducted in broad daylight. However, swift action by Pune rural police and local security teams led to the teenager’s rescue within hours after a high-speed chase.

The victim is the son of Lakhansheth Dalvi, associated with the Anand Udyog Group. According to police, the young man was forcibly taken away in a car while he was travelling through Kapurhol in Bhor taluka.

Kidnapping In Broad Daylight

Officials said the incident unfolded suddenly when a black car stopped on the main road in Kapurhol. After a brief struggle, the abductors forced the teenager into the vehicle and fled the scene. The incident caused immediate alarm in the village.

The family alerted the police soon after the abduction. Messages were quickly circulated through the village security network, and alerts were issued in surrounding areas.

Police Launch ‘Roadblock Operation’

Upon receiving information, teams from Jejuri and Neera police stations launched a joint operation. Officers immediately set up roadblocks on the Jejuri–Neera route and began checking vehicles moving through the area.

During the operation, police spotted a suspicious car travelling from Jeur towards Pisur. When officers signalled the driver to stop, the vehicle accelerated, triggering a chase.

Car Crashes Into Sugarcane Field

The pursuit continued for several kilometres before the car lost control on a narrow road and crashed into a sugarcane field. The vehicle got stuck in mud inside the field, forcing the kidnappers to abandon it and flee.

When police opened the car doors, they found the terrified teenager inside and safely rescued him.

Suspects Arrested, Search On For Others

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping. They have been identified as Akshay Lakshman Ingulkar and Akshay Dattatray Bhalerao, both residents of Manjari in Hadapsar.

Two other suspects — Pankaj Walhekar and Ganesh Dhadve from Kamthadi — are currently absconding, and police teams have launched a search to trace them.

Assistant Police Inspector Dipak Wakchaure from Jejuri Police Station said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the kidnapping. Authorities are examining whether it was linked to extortion, financial disputes, or personal rivalry.

Police and the district crime branch are continuing their probe while intensifying efforts to arrest the remaining accused.
