Pune Metro Introduces Reserved Seats For Women And Senior Citizens From March 8

Pune, March 6, 2026: In a step aimed at improving comfort and safety for commuters, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Pune Metro) has decided to introduce reserved seating for women and senior citizens across all metro trains starting March 8, 2026, coinciding with International Women’s Day.
The new seating arrangement will be implemented in all three coaches of every Pune Metro train. The initiative is expected to make travel more convenient, particularly for elderly passengers and women commuters who rely on the metro for daily transportation.
Under the revised arrangement, a total of 46 seats will be reserved for women and 8 seats for senior citizens in each metro train.

Break-up of Reserved Seats per Train:
First Coach (DMA Car): 14 seats for women, 2 seats for senior citizens
Middle Coach (T-Car): 18 seats for women, 4 seats for senior citizens
Third Coach (DMB Car): 14 seats for women, 2 seats for senior citizens
Overall, each train will have 54 reserved seats, including 46 for women and 8 for senior citizens.
Pune Metro officials said that detailed coach layout drawings indicating the reserved seating arrangement will be displayed at all metro stations and made available on the official mobile application. Passengers will also be able to identify the designated seats through clear signage inside the coaches.
Metro authorities have appealed to commuters to follow the reserved seating guidelines and cooperate with fellow passengers to ensure a safe and comfortable travel environment for everyone.
