Sinhgad Dental College HoD Raju Patil Dies by Suicide in Pune
Suicide note found at residence cites work-related stress; police begin investigation
Pune: Raju Patil, Head of Department (HoD) at Sinhgad Dental College & Hospital in Vadgaon Budruk, died by suicide at his residence on Friday, police officials said.
According to the police, Patil allegedly died by hanging. The incident came to light around noon when his wife returned home and found him hanging inside the house. She immediately alerted the police.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and carried out a panchnama before taking the body into custody for further procedures. The incident created a stir in the area.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the scene. In the note, Patil reportedly mentioned work-related stress as the reason for taking the extreme step. He also stated that his wife should not be held responsible for his death.
Patil had been serving as the HoD at Sinhgad Dental College & Hospital for several years and was also involved in administrative responsibilities at the institution. His wife also works at the same college.
He is survived by his wife and two sons who are studying in Class 7 and Class 4. Police are currently questioning family members and other related persons as part of the ongoing investigation.
